Educational Institutions without donations and endowments would not be possible. More than 47 universities in the United States receive endowments of more than a billion dollars each. It is interesting to note that according to Imam Shafi'i, there weren't any endowments before Islam and it was a characteristic given to the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (S). Many people, including many Muslims, have benefited from the countless grants, scholarships and endowments within the Western system of education.
Another area that used to be available for centers of learning was funding from the Baytul Maal (Muslim treasury). In times when the Baytul Maal is not functioning or is being misappropriated, the scholars have stated that those that have wealth must come together and support those areas the Baytul Maal would normally take care of.
Many people now are walking up to the nightmare of having allowed there children to grow up in a society without a strong sense of how to be Muslim and function in this society. If you are a parent, expect to be a parent or merely want to help out with establishing strong educational systems for the Muslims in the West, you should support Tayba Foundation.
