He needed a lawyer to get a license…

Brother Yusef had a plan for getting out of prison: he was going to find a job as a truck driver.

But he was having trouble even applying for a regular driver's license.

A lawyer could've helped him to get that license... but he needed money to hire one. And to get money, he had to get a job. But without a license...

Yusef did end up finding a job in the end. But without a car, his commute was close to 2 hours... one way.

And since he was in a half-way house, he had to abide by strict curfews or risk going back to prison. But with full-time work and 4 hours of commute every day, it was difficult to do anything else.

It was one catch-22 after another.

You may have already seen Yusef's story in Tayba's LaunchGood campaign, but today we wanted to share his full interview with you. It's a typical example of the struggle even a well-meaning, prepared prisoner faces once he rejoins free society.
