Tayba student Muhammad was encouraged by Shaykh Rami to write about his father’s advice. However, he had already written an article on the topic entitled My Father Taught Me. It was published in The Echo prison newsletter in August 2025.

The ECHO newspaper is the resident newspaper that is distributed to all Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) residents, TDCJ departments and various external stakeholders, including community subscribers. The ECHO is supervised by a managing editor, published 10 times a year and is regulated by the district through a memorandum of understanding with TDCJ.
